#theIdealAesthetic, screenprint, 2016
From hand-cut stencils to computer rendered images, from the laser-cutter to the printing press, these machines are my collaborators in a search to document the visceral, intuitive, and playful experiences of discovery. My process explores how the cognition of an individual is translated through machines and causes what is labeled in a systematic process as errors. Between the machine-made marks and the hand in the work, a conclusive relationship between human and machine never formulates. Each work becomes a puzzle piece to an incomplete whole.
